Reflection & Evaluation

In this evaluation I will be talking about my personal reflection on my project which was to create a website from scratch about a specific topic which I choose to be Drug Awareness.

Firstly, I think my website turned out to be much better then I planned too. It doesn’t have the complete professional look however it has everything I wanted on it. My creation did differ from the design I created previously however the main idea still came from the design I choose. Personally I think my banner and the layout of the website is really good as not only is it easy to use but it is organized and the information is easily readable. What I could improve on is the overall look of the website. I could make it look more professional by having advertisements and extra things on my home page for e.g. On the homepage of kidshealth.org they have a quiz on the side, along with other things such as “topic of the day”, “most viewed article” etc.  I could also make it more eye-catching by adding in more pictures and making them stand out. Another thing I could improve on was adding things such as Facebook, twitter buttons that allow the reader to share the information with someone else and possibly add contact information as well and maybe a comment section or a share your personal experience for the last page which was teenage experiences, this would then allow the readers to come together with people who have stopped taking drugs or have helped other stop.

Secondly I think my blog is really good too; there is a lot of stuff missing however I think I have managed to do a lot. I think I slacked off on my plan the most, though I have the basic requirements I have not gone into further depth with my work answering questions such as if I’ve stayed on my plan or how things are going which is something I need to look at next time. Also I could have posted a few pictures of my website coming together as additional work to my design and possibly create.

Overall I think my work is quite good I have managed to stay on task and I learnt a lot such as how to use Dreamweaver effectively and information about drugs I did not know before. It was challenging however I think I did quite well, although I may have slacked off on some aspects but in an overall look I’m pleased with what I have done.

Plan

This Gnatt chart shows my time line and progress throughout the course of this project.  The colors represents the time I have scheduled for myself for each task/criteria.

These are 10 steps of what i plan to accomplish over the course of the few days I have to finish my create.

1.      The first thing I plan to do a bit more investigation. I would like my website to look as professional as possible so i have decided look at some websites online for a better understanding of their layouts so i can in-cooperate it to my own website. The main website i have chosen to look at is kidshealth.org because i feel like its quite similar to what i would like my website to look like. I like the easy vibe it sets of the viewer and i like how everything is organized and user-friendly.
2.      Look over my designs and make any adjustments based on my finding from the extra research i did from task 1
3.      Open Dreamweaver and begin my website
4.      Add the table, banner, logo, tabs,
5.      Then add extra things such as contacts information, pictures and information
6.      Get the opinion of others on my website so i can understand what my weak points are and how i could improve them.
7.      Make final adjustments to my website based on the comments i received from my peers from the previous task
8.      Update my blogger with pictures of my create
9.      Finish my blog with a my Reflection on my website and blog, explaining what how i think i have done, what i could improve on, how to improve on my work and what have i learnt and achieved.
10.   Peer reflection on two other webistes/blogger created by my friends

Design Part 2!

After creating  my two designs i went around my classroom and asked my peers which one they preferred and Design 1 has gotten the most votes. Personally i like Design 1 the best too because i think its layout is appealing however it could be more user friendly.

Design Part 1

I was asked to create 2 different design templates for my website. I wanted to create something user friendly but also appealing to look at. Kidshealth.org is a brilliant website which i used to "inspire"  my designs. Not only is it really user friendly but its information and the look of the site is fantastic. They have create 3 separate tabs each directed to a specific audience and then they have articles based on the audience. It fulfills the needs of the audience which therefore makes it a really affected website.
After making my designs I was then asked to go around and ask my peers which one they preferred. The results are in the following post.

Questionnaire:
1.       On a scale of 1-5 how much do you know about the impacts of drugs
2.       Can you get drugs easily in your community?
3.       Do you have friends or family who participate in this activity
4.       Are you worried that your children/friends/family might be peer pressured to participate in this activity?
5.       Do you know how to help an addict?

6.       Is there anyone you can go to for help?

Investigation Part 3

My area of interaction is....
- Community and Service as i am creating an awareness of an issue that is very popular.
- Health and Social Education as i am educating my audience more about drugs and how harmful they are

1.       The World Wide Web can be used as an advertising tool through various effective way such as social media, pop ups, advertisement, YouTube clips, drop menu’s etc.
2.       One real life issue I would like to advertise on the internet is Usage of Drugs and its effect on young teens
3.       Types of Drugs, their effects, how to get help, peer pressure
4.       It is a relevant topic because now a day’s many teenagers have resulted into extreme drug use. These days drugs can be found everywhere and a lot of people are tempted to try them out due to the excitement or escape that drugs seems to offer. They take them for many reasons which results into many consequences.
There are many drugs that help people such as antibiotics, vaccines treat infections. Medicines can cure or prevent us from harmful diseases which lead us to a healthy life. However there are many drugs in this world that can be more harmful then helpful. Although it may feel good at first, drugs can do a lot of harm to the body and brain such as the inability to making healthy choice and decisions.  For example teenagers who drink alcohol sometimes get caught up driving under the influence which is both a hazard to them and other driving around them.
7.       Dreamweaver & Photoshop

Why did I choose this?
I choose this topic because I feel many teenagers nowadays in my school and out of school are being affected by this problem and I want to help them stop.

Investigation Part 2

Heyyy! So this is the second part to my investigation where i had to go on to the software Dreamweaver which i have chosen to help me create my website. I had to investigate different tools and just mess about and get more comfortable with the software. Here are 10 tools which i learnt how to use:

Investigation Part 1

Hey guys! this is the first task i had to do for this terms project which is to create our own website about a specific topic. So this is my investigation, i have created two spider diagrams of adverting tools and product marketing ideas that i will use to help me create my website

Introduction

Hey guys!! So this term in my ICT class we are learning how to create a website from scratch. So we each needed to pick a specific topic and create a whole website for it. The topic I have chosen is Drugs. I would like to create awareness to a specific audience, (which I choose to be young adults) on what effect drugs have and how they can be harmful to your health.
